Ensure the following is set up on your system:

• Windows* 7 or later (32 bit or 64 bit)

Note Make sure that the paths to the SDK components do not contain non-Latin characters or spaces. This includes the path to the SDK installation and the path to the Eclipse* workspace.

• Eclipse Integrated Development Environment version 3.7.2 (Indigo) or later
• Java* Development Kit (version 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10)
• JAVA_HOME Windows system environment variable set to the path of the Java Development Kit installation (for example, C:\Program Files\Java\jdk8u202-b08)
• PATH Windows system environment variable set to the \bin directory of the Java Development Kit installation (for example, C:\Program Files\Java\jdk8u202-b08\bin)

Note Do not use a console SET command to set the environment variables. To ensure the variables are permanently set, use the Control Panel (in Windows 8 and Windows® 10, go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings).

• %JAVA_HOME%/bin directory contains the executables that are shipped with the JDK (for example JAVA.EXE and JAVAC.EXE)
• Microsoft Visual Studio* 2010, 2012, 2013, or 2015 (for creating your host application)
• Administrator access to your development machine

Install the latest SDK.

To confirm that the SDK was installed properly:

  a. Verify that you see:

• Installed files and data in your selected directory. For example, C:\DALsdk
• Intel® Dynamic Application Loader (Intel® DAL) plug-ins for Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse (optional) in \DALsdk\Plugins
• Desktop icons that open the Emulauncher and the Generic Host Application from Intel DAL (optional)

  b. Run the Troubleshooter tool for Intel DAL by going to Start › Troubleshoot.
