Software and Services Group
"Many people may think that Intel is just a hardware company. Making computer chips is surely Intel's core business, but the software group is one of the largest at Intel and one of the largest such organizations at any company."
What is a cool opportunity or project I've had while working at Intel?
One of the coolest projects was working on the power and performance optimization in Windows 7 for the latest Intel processor. We proposed enhancements, built a prototype and provided direct input to both Intel and Microsoft. It was amazing to be part of a team which influenced next-generation hardware and software architecture. It was cool to be able to see the impact of my work on millions of Intel inside PCs running Windows.
What's the most fun experience I've had while working at Intel?
I organized RCGs (recent college grads) to volunteer for an Intel PC Recycle (e-Waste) event. Together, we collected 130,000 lbs of e-waste from 1,500 cars.
What communities or networks do I participate in at Intel?
Being the president of Intel RCGnet (recent college grad employee group) at Oregon, I'm leading a committee to provide other RCGs with professional development, community involvement, and networking opportunities.
What do I do when I'm NOT at work?
I'm a good Cuban salsa dancer. Hiking along the Columbia River Gorge is also one of my frequent weekend activities. During the winter, snowboarding is definitely my favorite.
If I could live and work abroad for a year, where would I go?
I would like to work in Shanghai, China which is my motherland. It would be cool to enjoy authentic Chinese food again.
What's the coolest gadget that I've purchased lately?
A radio transmitter for my IPod*. It even works in a vintage car.
